Description

The tiny hesitation before the piano blooms in Dawn says everything about this score’s poise. Dario Marianelli’s Pride & Prejudice (Music From The Motion Picture) returns in a 20th Anniversary Edition LP, with Jean-Yves Thibaudet’s touch right at the heart of it. Pieces like Liz on Top of the World and Your Hands Are Cold carry that clear-eyed, aching lyricism that made the 2005 film feel newly alive.

This pressing gives the music room to breathe; there’s more space around the strings, and piano transients feel truer. Thibaudet’s phrasing comes through with a quiet intimacy that suits late-night listening as much as a Sunday tidy.

If you’d rather order online, you can buy Pride & Prejudice (Music From The Motion Picture) records online with us.

It sits neatly beside Rachel Portman’s Austen-era work on your shelf, but Marianelli leans a touch more toward classical pastiche with a modern emotional snap. The sequence from Dawn into the first dance cues still raises hairs, and the ornamented right-hand figures feel nicely etched without glare. As a 20th anniversary edition, it’s a smart way to refresh a cornerstone modern period score and a no-brainer for anyone who missed the original run or wants a quieter, more detailed cut.

Available to buy online with quick delivery Australia wide, or pick it up in our Melbourne record store.
