Description
Saturday tidy, windows open, and this one just hums along while you find lost tape on the coffee table. Various – Asteroid City Original Soundtrack gathers Wes Anderson’s dusty, mid‑century palette into a warm, desert‑toned 2LP set on orange vinyl. Jarvis Cocker’s “Dear Alien (Who Art in Heaven)” is the heart-stopper, a campfire prayer that threads through Alexandre Desplat’s sun‑bleached cues and period jukebox cuts. The way the rhythm guitar tucks under the vocal there is quietly perfect.
Spread over two discs, the pressing gives the music room to breathe; space opens up around the acoustics and the imaging is more precise than the digital version. Artwork looks sharp in the larger format, too. It sits neatly beside Marty Robbins on your shelf, or alongside those mid‑50s C&W singles and wide‑screen desert scores.
If you’d rather order online, you can buy Asteroid City records online with us. Played at a conversational volume, the brushed percussion and gentle tremolo keep the mood in that sweet spot between thoughtful and playful, ideal for a late evening wind‑down in Melbourne or a small gathering where the music does the scene‑setting without fuss.
A lovely, specific world, captured with care and a touch of stardust. Add it to your collection today, available online or in our Melbourne record store.
