- We ship Australia wide for a flat rate of $10 for standard shipping or $15 for express post.
- Free Shipping for orders $150 and over.
- You can also pick up your order in store, just select Local Pickup at the checkout.
- We also ship internationally - prices vary depending on weight and location.
- We ship vinyls in thick, rigid carboard mailers with a crushable zone on either side, and for extra safety we bubble wrap the records.
- In stock vinyl is usally shipped next business day, please check the availability field at the top of the product page to see whether the record is currently in stock or if it is available from the supplier as well as estimated shipping times.
- If you order an in stock item together with a pre order or back order (listed as available from supplier rather than in stock) then the order will be shipped together when all items arrive. If you would like the in stock items shipped first please place two separate orders or contact us to arrange shipping items separately.

Description
A cue ball cracks in a dim pool hall; the band answers with a brassy sting. Willie Colón’s The Hustler (LP) is the second Fania set with Héctor Lavoe out front, a tough, trombone-driven blend of boogaloo edge and early salsa dura. The title cut snaps from a sly bass pickup into a storming coro, and the trombone break after the first verse is pure street theater. Spin Guajirón for a montuno that just keeps tightening while Lavoe tosses off effortless soneos.
This pressing does the music a favour: the low end sits deeper and there’s more space around the horns, so the percussion locks in without blur. File it next to the late-60s Fania run and early Ray Barretto in your collection, where grit meets swing.

It’s a snapshot of Colón and Lavoe finding their voice together, still raw, already unmistakable. The arrangements stay lean, the timbales bite, and those twin trombones punch like a rhythm guitar section. For DJs, the title track’s intro is a perfect cue; for living rooms, the slower guajira passages keep the room moving without shouting.
