Description
"Spread The Word," released in 1986, is an album by Peter Zaremba's Love Delegation, a project spearheaded by Peter Zaremba, the lead singer of the garage rock band The Fleshtones. This album marks a departure from the raw, garage rock sound of The Fleshtones, delving into a more polished and eclectic mix of rock, soul, and rhythm and blues.
The album opens with a vibrant energy, blending classic rock and roll with elements of soul and funk. Tracks like "Love Delegation" showcase the band's ability to create music that is both catchy and rhythmically compelling. The song is characterized by its groovy bassline, upbeat rhythm, and Zaremba's charismatic vocal delivery.
"Spread The Word," the title track, is another highlight of the album. This song features a catchy chorus, vibrant horn sections, and a danceable beat that exemplifies the band's fusion of different musical styles. The track's lively and infectious energy makes it a standout piece on the album.
The production quality of "Spread The Word" reflects the mid-1980s aesthetic, with a focus on clarity and a blend of electronic and acoustic elements. The production supports the album's diverse musical influences, creating a sound that is both contemporary and reminiscent of classic rock and soul.
One of the unique aspects of the album is its blending of genres. Songs like "Ain't That Love" combine the soulful elements of rhythm and blues with rock and roll energy, showcasing the band's versatility and Zaremba's prowess as a frontman.
The album also includes more introspective tracks, such as "Lost On Love," which offer a contrast to the more upbeat numbers. These songs showcase Zaremba's range as a vocalist and the band's ability to handle different moods and themes, adding depth to the overall listening experience.
Lyrically, "Spread The Word" covers a range of themes, from love and relationships to more reflective and introspective topics. The lyrics are often witty and engaging, complementing the album's energetic and dynamic musical backdrop.
In terms of its impact, "Spread The Word" by Peter Zaremba's Love Delegation may not have achieved mainstream commercial success, but it stands as a testament to the band's musical creativity and Zaremba's versatility as an artist. The album showcases a different side of Zaremba's talent, separate from his work with The Fleshtones, and contributes to the diverse landscape of 1980s music.
In conclusion, "Spread The Word" is an album that captures the spirit of musical exploration and genre-blending that was characteristic of the 1980s. Its combination of rock, soul, and rhythm and blues, along with Zaremba's charismatic performances, make it an engaging and enjoyable listen. For fans of The Fleshtones or those interested in the eclectic musical experiments of the 1980s, "Spread The Word" offers a unique and entertaining musical experience.
