The album features a collection of standards and ballads, highlighting Baker's ability to blend his cool, melodic trumpet lines with orchestral backgrounds.
The album opens with "You Don't Know What Love Is," a poignant ballad that sets the tone for the rest of the record. Baker's trumpet playing is both tender and expressive, capturing the melancholic essence of the song. The string arrangements, conducted by Johnny Mandel, provide a rich, harmonic backdrop that enhances the emotional depth of Baker's performance.

His trumpet playing is both lyrical and nuanced, capturing the essence of the song's romantic sentiment. The string arrangements are subtle yet effective, providing a gentle cushion for Baker's melodic lines.
