1974 was a good year for music. A relatively unknown band from Sweden called ABBA smashed into the charts in 21 countries with their Eurovision winning song 'Waterloo'. Who would have thought that what was traditionally a 'one hit wonder' win would this year turn out a group that would become a global phenomenon? That they would go on to sell over 380 million albums worldwide? That this would be the band that Nelson Mandela would declare to be his favourite pop group? And who, today, would believe that was nearly 40 years ago?
2014 is looking to be another great year for ABBA. We are celebrating the 40th anniversary of their Eurovision success and more broadly the monumental achievements of one of the most successful groups of all time. The centerpiece of the celebration is this 40th Anniversary 3CD edition of the classic ABBA 'Gold' compilation. Buy your copy today!
"ABBA Gold: Greatest Hits is a compilation album by the Swedish pop group ABBA. It was released on 21 September 1992 through PolyGram and released in 2008 through Universal Music Australia, making it the first compilation to be released after the company had acquired Polar Music, and thus the rights to the ABBA back catalogue.
With sales of 30 million, Gold is the best-selling ABBA album, as well one of the best-selling albums worldwide. Since 1992, it has been re-released several times, most notably in 1999 as the first remastered reissue to mark the group's 25th anniversary of winning the Eurovision Song Contest 1974, in 2008 to coincide with the release of the film Mamma Mia! and most recently in 2014 to mark the group's 40th anniversary of winning the Eurovision Song Contest." - Wikipedia1 Review Hide Reviews Show Reviews
