Description
Cut with seasoned Nashville hands, Bahamas leans into a warm, country shuffle on Bootcut, trading soft-rock sway for twang, close harmonies and unhurried pocket. Afie Jurvanen’s voice sits dry and upfront, letting the jokes land and the ache linger. There’s a sly pedal-steel answer line that circles a chorus like a friendly echo, a brushed-snare two-step that tightens just before the bridge, and a hushed duet tucked mid-album that feels like a late kitchen chat.
The songs stay sparse so the groove can breathe, and this LP pressing rewards it: space opens up between the guitars, and the low end sits deeper without smudging the vocals. You can feel the room around the band when the harmonies bloom, and the acoustic transients come off clean, not sharp.
File it next to John Prine on the shelf, especially if you like that easygoing 70s roots-country feel but want a modern, slightly wryer tilt. If you’d rather order online, you can buy Bahamas records online with us. It’s the kind of record you put on for a small dinner and let run through, each tune a little drier, funnier and more tender than the last.
Packaging is simple and tasteful, art to match the unpretentious glow of the music. Buy online now with fast shipping across Australia, or pick it up in our Preston record store.
