Description

Larkin Poe, the American roots rock band formed by sisters Rebecca and Megan Lovell, released their fourth studio album, "Reskinned," in 2016. With their unique blend of blues, rock, and folk influences, the duo delivers a powerful and captivating musical experience that showcases their exceptional talent and growth as artists.

"Reskinned" is a reimagined version of their previous album, "Kin," which was released in 2014. The sisters decided to revisit these songs and give them a fresh perspective, resulting in a more refined and polished sound. The album features 11 tracks, including both original compositions and covers, all of which highlight the duo's impressive musicianship and soulful vocals.

One of the standout tracks on the album is the opening song, "Sucker Puncher." This blues-infused rock anthem sets the tone for the entire album, with its gritty guitar riffs and powerful vocals. The sisters' harmonies are particularly impressive, showcasing their ability to blend their voices seamlessly. Another notable track is their cover of Son House's "Preachin' Blues," where they pay homage to the blues legend while adding their own unique twist to the song.

Throughout the album, Larkin Poe demonstrates their versatility as musicians, effortlessly transitioning between different genres and styles. Tracks like "Trouble in Mind" and "Stubborn Love" showcase their ability to create catchy, radio-friendly rock songs, while "Don't" and "Jailbreak" delve into more introspective and emotional territory. The sisters' songwriting skills are evident in the heartfelt lyrics and the way they infuse each song with raw emotion.

One of the album's highlights is the sisters' exceptional guitar playing. Rebecca and Megan Lovell are both accomplished guitarists, and their skills are on full display throughout "Reskinned." From blistering solos to intricate fingerpicking, their guitar work adds depth and complexity to each track. The album also features some impressive slide guitar playing, further showcasing their mastery of the instrument.

In terms of production, "Reskinned" is a well-crafted album that perfectly captures the energy and intensity of Larkin Poe's live performances. The production allows the sisters' vocals and instruments to shine, while still maintaining a raw and organic sound. The album has a warm and inviting atmosphere, making it a pleasure to listen to from start to finish.

Overall, "Reskinned" is a testament to Larkin Poe's growth as artists and their ability to create music that is both powerful and soulful. The album showcases their exceptional musicianship, captivating vocals, and heartfelt songwriting. With its blend of blues, rock, and folk influences, "Reskinned" is a must-listen for fans of Americana and roots rock music.

Larkin Poe has established themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the music industry, and "Reskinned" is a testament to their talent and dedication.
