Description

The organ vamp under the chorus of Dangerous tells you where this late Van set sits, with supple R&B and a band locked in. What’s It Gonna Take? stretches across a grey 2LP that flatters the groove. Space opens up around the horns and the low end sits deeper, so those shuffle rhythms breathe. On Not Seeking Approval he rides a walking bass while the sax answers his lines like an old sparring partner. Money From America saunters, organ simmering, before a tidy guitar figure lifts the refrain. It’s a cantankerous record at heart, but the playing is classic Morrison bandleader mode, closer to his Caledonia-soul instincts than any nostalgia trip. File it near late Dylan for the bark and bite, though the feel here is looser and more swinging. If you’re shopping from Melbourne and prefer a click over a browse, you can buy Van Morrison records online with us. Grey vinyl looks sharp without adding noise, and the 2LP spread keeps sides short so dynamics stay lively. Standout closer Pretending slips a little tenderness in after all the vinegar. For longtime fans, it belongs on the shelf next to Common One-era patience and the late-career growl.

Shop online or dig for it in our Preston store while stock lasts.
