Released in 1999, this Australian supergroup's debut album offers a refreshing and experimental sound that pushes the boundaries of rock, folk, and jazz.

Led by the renowned Australian musician and songwriter Paul Kelly, Professor Ratbaggy brings together a group of highly skilled musicians, including Peter Luscombe on drums, Bruce Haymes on keyboards, and Stephen Hadley on bass. Each member's individual expertise shines through in the album, resulting in a cohesive and captivating musical experience.

The album opens with the energetic and infectious track "Midnight Rain," which immediately grabs the listener's attention with its catchy guitar riffs and Kelly's distinctive vocals. Throughout the album, Professor Ratbaggy effortlessly transitions between different musical styles, keeping the listener engaged and intrigued. Tracks like "Soul To Soul" and "The Ballad of Queenie and Rover" incorporate elements of jazz, with Haymes' skillful keyboard playing adding a smooth and sophisticated layer to the music.

Another notable track is "The Ballad of Queenie and Rover," a folk-inspired song that tells a captivating story of love and loss. Kelly's emotive vocals, combined with the delicate acoustic guitar and subtle percussion, create a poignant and intimate atmosphere that draws the listener in.

The album also features a cover of the classic Bob Dylan song "Subterranean Homesick Blues," which Professor Ratbaggy puts their own unique spin on. The band's interpretation of the song adds a fresh and modern twist, while still paying homage to Dylan's original version.
