Released in 1984, this album serves as a sequel to his earlier work, *The Poet*, and it further cements Womack’s status as one of the most influential figures in the genre. With its lush production and poignant themes, *The Poet II* is not just an album; it’s an experience that resonates deeply with listeners.
From the opening track, “Love Is Gonna Lift You Up,” Womack’s smooth, gravelly voice draws you in, setting the tone for what’s to come. One of the standout tracks on the album is “So Many Sides of You,” which features the powerhouse vocals of Patti LaBelle.
