Description
Produced by Nigel Godrich, with David Campbell’s strings framing Beck’s most bare songs, Sea Change is the breakup record that turned his sideways wit inward. The Golden Age drifts like headlights on a late drive, pedal steel and brushed drums held in perfect hush. Paper Tiger swells and lurches on cinematic strings, while Lost Cause pares things back to dust and resignation.
This 2LP pressing gives the music room to breathe; the low end sits deeper and imaging feels steadier across the soundstage.
File it beside Nick Drake’s quiet classics, but note how the production keeps everything modern and quietly widescreen. If you’d rather order online, you can buy Beck records online with us. It’s a set we reach for on slow Saturdays at home, gentle, absorbing, and honest.
Small details pop, and Paper Tiger’s sway feels more grounded. However you come at it, Sea Change remains one of Beck’s most enduring turns, and this edition does right by the songs.
We make it easy to buy Beck records online or pick up a copy in our Melbourne record shop.
