The album includes 'Boys Light Up,' one of the band's signature songs. With its infectious rhythm and Reyne's distinctive vocals, the track encapsulates the band's ability to combine catchy pop-rock with a distinctly Australian perspective. The song's playful and somewhat controversial lyrics offer a glimpse into the band's sense of humor and rebellious spirit.

'Reckless,' another standout track, is a more introspective and melodic song. Its reflective lyrics and smooth, emotive delivery showcase a different side of Australian Crawl, highlighting their versatility as a band. The song remains one of their most enduring and beloved tracks, often regarded as a classic in Australian rock music.

'Errol,' a tribute to the legendary Australian actor Errol Flynn, is notable for its upbeat tempo and catchy chorus. The song's blend of rock and new wave elements, along with its engaging storytelling, demonstrates the band's skill in crafting memorable and distinctive songs.

'Downhearted,' a hit single from their debut album, showcases the band's ability to blend pop sensibilities with rock energy. The track's catchy melody and relatable lyrics about love and disappointment resonate with the laid-back yet emotive style that Australian Crawl is known for.

The production on 'Crawl File' reflects the sound of Australian rock in the late 1970s and early 1980s, with a focus on clear, bright instrumentation and Reyne's prominent vocals. The compilation retains the raw and energetic feel of the band's original recordings, capturing the essence of their live performances.

Throughout 'Crawl File - Their Greatest Hits,' Australian Crawl's music explores themes of love, Australian identity, and the carefree lifestyle associated with the country's surf culture.
