Description

Peart’s ride ping in Natural Science finally sits in its own air here, and you can trace Geddy’s elastic bass run under Freewill’s bridge without losing the guitars. Permanent Waves gets the expanded 3LP + 2CD treatment, pairing the 1980 studio breakthrough with tour recordings that show a band pivoting from sprawling prog to taut, bright songcraft. Across The Spirit of Radio, those opening harmonics sparkle before the riff bites.

This pressing opens up space around the trio and the low end sits deeper. If you’d rather order online, you can buy Rush records online with us. In Melbourne, it is the version we reach for when someone wants to hear how precise a power trio can feel at volume.

File it next to late 70s Yes, but note how they streamline the complexity into something punchier, a step toward the shape of early 80s radio rock. The live cuts underline it, capturing Peart’s precision and Lifeson’s wiry tone with a touch more grit than the studio side. Packaging is generous, sensible, and genuinely listenable across formats.
